Setting Up the Box Score Page

Level: Beginner

Sports Bench has support for creating a box score page to show a box score for every game on your website automatically.

Here’s how to create the box score page.

  1. Create a new page and title it whatever you want (it doesn’t have to be “box score” though that is recommended.
  2. Depending on if
    1. If you are using the Sports Bench Main Theme, you can simply select “Box Score” from the template selector.
    2. If you are using the classic editor, hit the Sports Bench logo in the editor and select “Box Score Page”.
    3. If you are using the block editor, add the “Sports Bench Box Score” block.
  3. Publish the page.
  4. If you haven’t already, you will need to set this page as your box score page in the Sports Bench settings.
    1. Go to “Sports Bench” in the left-hand menu and then select the “Pages” tab.
    2. Select your new page as the box score page.
    3. Hit save.
  5. After setting this as your team page, you will need to go to “Settings” and “Permalinks” in the left-hand menu and just hit save to update the permalinks.
  6. Then view your new page and add “?game_id={game id}” to view the box score for that game.

Congratulations! You’ve now created your box score page. There might be some styling adjustments you’ll need to make to get it just right with your theme, but the hard part is over.

Also, if you just go directly to the page, you won’t see a box score. You need to add “?game_id={game id}” to the end of the URL to view the box score for that game. All of the box score links that are visible on your website will go to the correct game.
