A couple of weeks ago, someone came to me with a question regarding Sports Bench. Does the plugin have built-in support for leagues that are separated by age, grades or skill level?
The short answer to that is no. Sports Bench does not support for different levels in a league. It was a poor oversight on my part. However, it will likely be added to a future release.
But the story doesn’t end there. If you have a league that is separated by ages, grades or levels, there’s a way to keep that organization in the plugin data.
My answer to the person that emailed me was very simple. Essentially, you can use the conferences as grade levels. Instead of the conference name, you’ll just enter the age or grade. Then if there are divisions within those, you can enter them as usual.
Unfortunately, there are a few places, namely the standings page, where the word “conference” will still appear. There’s not really a clear-cut fix for that without re-writing functions. It’s just something we’ll have to deal with.
But like I said, this is in the works for a future release (though not for 1.3 unfortunately) and I’ll be sure to make sure the implementation is as smooth as possible.
